LocalFlorists

Honest guides to flowers, chosen the way a florist would choose them.

Twenty years on the other side of the counter. Mother's Day, weddings, sympathy work, anniversaries, and the small ordinary Tuesdays. What to send, when to send it, and which delivery service actually does the work right.

How we write about flowers
Three standards we hold to.

Specific, not generic.

"Send peonies, mid-sized, white ceramic vase, $75-$110 from a local florist." Not "send something nice." Specifics make the gift land.

Honest about cost.

Flower pricing is not transparent on most websites. We name the actual range you should expect to pay, including what the delivery service keeps versus what reaches the florist.

Affiliate transparency.

We earn a commission when readers order through our links. The commission does not change which service we recommend. Where you should spend less, we say so.

About the editor

Iryna Petrenko

Editor, Local Florists

Iryna left Lviv in 1997, opened a flower shop in suburban Chicago in 2003, and ran it for fifteen years before selling it in 2018. The shop did weddings, sympathy work, weekly orders for restaurants, and the long quiet middle of the year that nobody writes about.

Local Florists is what she does now. She writes from the side of the counter she stood on for twenty years.
